Privacy
How information is handled when you browse or contact Laptopnet.
Browsing the site
Laptopnet has no visitor accounts, comments, newsletter forms, advertising scripts or analytics integrations. Search and topic filters run in your browser against the guide index. Search words can appear in the page URL and your browser history; they are not sent to a search service. Ordinary hosting requests may include that URL.
Hosting and technical records
When you request a page, the hosting service receives connection information such as an IP address, the requested address, request time and browser details. Technical logs may be used to deliver pages, investigate errors and protect the site. Hosting providers process this information as service providers. Log retention depends on the hosting configuration; we do not operate a separate visitor tracking database.
Email enquiries
If you email contact@laptopnet.co.uk, your address, message and any attachments are processed to read and answer the enquiry or investigate a correction. Email providers process the correspondence to deliver and store it. We retain correspondence while needed for the enquiry and any necessary follow-up, then remove it when it is no longer required. Do not send passwords or other sensitive account information.
Cookies and browser storage
Laptopnet does not itself set cookies or use local storage for analytics, advertising, language preferences or consent records. The mobile menu and guide filters use temporary browser state. Your browser may cache public page files and remember visited URLs in the ordinary way. External services may set cookies after you follow an affiliate link, as explained below.
Affiliate links
The homepage contains a clearly labeled affiliate advertisement. Clicking its link takes you through Awin to the retailer. Awin and the retailer receive connection and referral information, such as browser details, an IP address and affiliate identifiers. They may use cookies and purchase information to attribute a sale and calculate a commission. We do not load an Awin script, tracking pixel or external ad when you simply view this site. Cookie duration and retention are governed by the external services; you can review their privacy choices and manage cookies in your browser. See the Awin privacy policy and the retailer’s privacy notice for details.
External websites
Articles also link to documentation and other external websites. Following a link takes you to a separate service with its own privacy practices. We do not embed third-party media in these pages. An external service’s cookies and privacy choices are managed by that service, not by this site.
Your choices and questions
You can browse without providing contact details. To ask about information in an email enquiry, or to request access, correction or deletion where applicable, contact contact@laptopnet.co.uk. State enough information to identify the correspondence without sending unnecessary personal data. Requests may require verification and may be subject to applicable retention obligations.
