Fit means more than the screen size

Use the complete phone model name when checking compatibility. Similar generations can move buttons or change the camera surround without changing the general appearance. A listing that groups several models together should make clear which version you are ordering.

Look at the port opening with your own cable in mind. Some connector housings are wider than others, particularly on reinforced or right-angle cables. The cable should seat fully without the case pushing against it. Removing the case every night may be acceptable to you, but it should be a choice you know about before buying.

Check button covers for distinct movement and sensible pressure. Try the camera controls, mute control, or other model-specific buttons where applicable. A case should not leave a button partly pressed or make an important control difficult to identify by touch.

If you already use a screen protector, confirm that the case edge does not lift it. A raised edge around the display or camera may be useful on a flat surface, but it does not establish a guaranteed level of drop protection. Read any tested claim with its conditions rather than treating a large protection number as universal.

Try the phone as you will carry it

Hold it with one hand, place it in your usual pocket, and set it on the desk. A grippy surface can be reassuring in the hand and awkward in a tight pocket. A ring or stand can be useful while adding a lump that changes how the phone lies flat.

For wireless charging or magnetic accessories, check explicit compatibility with both the case and the phone. Thickness, embedded metal, and accessory placement can affect the connection. Test your charger after fitting the case and confirm that charging remains stable rather than beginning only for a moment.

Keep cards and other items out of places the phone or charger manufacturer says to leave clear. A wallet attachment is convenient only if it can be removed easily when required and does not interfere with the way you use the phone.

Give the case a short trial before discarding its packaging. Plug in the cable, take a photograph, make a call, and use the controls. If the case makes those routine actions harder, its appearance is unlikely to compensate for the annoyance over the next year.
